I made this dress last September but never posted it. This is McCall’s M8553 and it’s adorable!

I wanted a dress pattern to be made in a woven and fell in love with the washi tape from Rashida Coleman-Hale. I made a size 10 with a lot of changes:

  • Rotated out bust darts
  • Added 2 ⅝” in length to front bodice, back bodice and front facing
  • Adjusted sleeve and armscye for my broad shoulders
  • Lengthened sleeve band to 17″ (cut dimension)
  • added 3″ to the shorter hem line

After completion, I realized the pockets need to be moved up and that the center back panel can be cut on the fold instead of in two pieces with a seam. Also, I had to press my waist seam down instead of up because of the plastic zipper.

Overall a super cute sew for quilting fabrics.
