I made this dress last September but never posted it. This is McCall’s M8553 and it’s adorable!
I wanted a dress pattern to be made in a woven and fell in love with the washi tape from Rashida Coleman-Hale. I made a size 10 with a lot of changes:
Rotated out bust darts
Added 2 ⅝” in length to front bodice, back bodice and front facing
Adjusted sleeve and armscye for my broad shoulders
Lengthened sleeve band to 17″ (cut dimension)
added 3″ to the shorter hem line
After completion, I realized the pockets need to be moved up and that the center back panel can be cut on the fold instead of in two pieces with a seam. Also, I had to press my waist seam down instead of up because of the plastic zipper.
